Renewing your iqama (residence permit) will now be easier. The General Directorate of Passports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has introduced new regulations for expatriates.

From now on, foreign residents will be able to renew their permits even if family members (dependents) are outside Saudi territory, provided that the "head of the family" remains within Saudi Arabia. Previously, the entire family was required to be physically present in the Kingdom for the renewal to be processed.

The new rule is designed to simplify procedures for foreign residents. In the same spirit, dependents can now also extend their exit and re-entry visas directly through the Absher app provided by the Ministry of Interior.
