Has anyone ever dealt with Neli Celarc in Las Terrenas.
We are trying to set up payment for a property and just checking to see if anyone knows her
for safety before sending.
Western Union is very sticky for this right now as there have apparently been some high fraud issues in the DR.
Sending money to the DR from Canada has been very tricky so far.

We dealt with Neli while checking for condos to purchase in Las Terrenas earlier this year. She was a little slow to respond but generally quite helpful. In the end we found a property through another agent.

Modaisky, regarding sending money from Canada to dr, I know a guy who says he cant even send from his Scotiabank account in canada, to his local scktiabank account!

We rented a villa through Neli for the past year. We never had any issues, checked out of that villa the other day and received our deposit on time. So, we would recommend her. And she will give you baked goods if you rent something through her. Bonus.  :top:

Isn't this crazy?!  I talked to my Scotiabank rep recently who says that in the next year, we may be able to do etransfers there.  Fingers crossed!  Should be able to etransfer anywhere in the world with our technology.

Xoom by PayPal cheaper and saffer the western union . Just make sure the mark it for a business transaction not for someone that you know. They can get the money out at any local bank you guys agree upon or put directly into the other person's account plus you have the safety and security of a PayPal transaction. I've used it numerous times here in the Dominican Republic. As for property managers that's either ahead or a very very far miss. Haven't really met a property manager that's totally upfront and honest. That's why you want to verify verify verify everything. If you're looking at property you can always have your lawyer also check into things. Hope that helped

As Rocky said, we just finished a year-long rental through Neli. We only looked at the one property with her because we had some unusual requirements (storage space for our container of stuff being the hardest to find) and unlike some others, she didn't waste our time on properties that didn't meet our needs.

We had no issues at all dealing with her and know of others who have dealt with her in the past.

Kepit, if that's true, tell us the exact locator number for the LT scotiabank. And what do you fill in for...national ID? As gringos we dont have any national id.

I know we have banco of Leo here and I can do a transfer with just my passport. And they don't charge any currency fees or anything . I've used them for about 3 years now and I always either just go in and do a wire transfer or have the person use Xoom and send the money to that bank or Scottish Bank. Never had a problem and like I said about 10 years I've been known transfers here
