COVID-19 : Looking for expat testimonies about the current situation in the US

Hello everyone,

I hope you're doing well.

We are looking for testimonies of expats living in the US for an article about the COVID-19 pandemic in the US.

How do you feel regarding the current situation in the US?

Do you feel safe in the US or are you looking to go back to your home country?

How are local authorities dealing with the situation?

How are you protecting yourself from COVID-19? Is there any new habit that you have adopted?

Feel free to reply to me on this thread or to contact me by private message should you wish to share your experience with us.

Many thanks in advance for your precious contribution.

Have a great weekend ahead!

Warm regards,

The response is a joke with such a high population of at risk people because of our high elderly rate. Leaders dont particularly care about what the specialists say, more so what their pockets say. There was a curfew set up that lasted 24 hours due to protestors in Tampa, FL. Hillsborough county is now requiring masks. Social Distancing signs are everywhere but they are definitely NOT enforced. Other counties are not required to wear masks, so if you travel out of Hillsborough it is something to think about.  The media highlights numbers that have been erratic and are quick to note that ICU's are full, as if to imply they are all CoVid patients, despite ICU's still caring for other critically ill people. Some medical/dental offices take your temperature before deciding to see you or reschedule you if you have any respiratory symptoms, travelled anywhere with high number of cases or suspected exposure. Basically, if you want protection you have to do it for yourself by using masks and proper hand hygiene or not going out. You have a choice whether to listen to the experts or politicians.
