Moving back to The Netherlands

Post new topic

MWylie

Hi everyone,

I'm Merel, i'm from the Netherlands but having been living in New Zealand for the last 6 years with my husband Joe, he is from New Zealand.
We are wanting to move to The Netherlands, i know that i need a job with a years contract for Joe to get a visa. It seems a bit impossible to get that from overseas..
just wanting to know if anyone else has gone through the prosses this way and has any advise? Or know of any companies that give year contracts from the get go?

Thanks heaps!
Merel

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

I'd be amazed if you got a 12-month contract; 7 months is the new norm in the Netherlands.  The contract is normally for "7 months, subject to extension", after 2 years, they have to either let you go or give you a permanent contract.

Exceptions to this exist; for example, if you have a skill that's in short supply, my advice is to use Google to find some Uitzendbureau that deals in your qualifications and see what they advise you to do.  Long-range job searching is always problematic, particularly when they find out you can't start work tomorrow.  If you are determined to come back to Holland, then perhaps consider coming back by yourself and then sponsor your husband once you have a job and somewhere to live.

Hope this helps.
