Health treatment costs

I have been here a short while waiting to start a job and fell ill. I saw a doctor (privately)... long story short, I need a pacemaker. My insurance is only for emergency.  I called NHS and despite the apparent urgency, it could take several consultations and a wait for the procedure.  However, I could have the procedure done in Belgium in a very short timescale.  Issue is balancing wait time versus cost (and my health.
Can anyone give me an estimate on how much I would pay for such a procedure?
In the UK, it's a day job with one overnight stay.  But then again, that's the NHS for you.
Many thanks.
P.S. Please respond quickly as my time may be limited

Hi,

Have a look on this website. Then take contact directly with hospitals to have true quotation.

Many thanks; I've lodged a query. Hopefully they'll get back soon.

I'm afraid that link was rubbish and a scam.  I got a reply today, three weeks after launching the query with them and stipulating I couldn't fly.  The offer was for treatment in Hungary.  I had the operation over two weeks ago, when it had become an emergency.  Just as well I didn't wait for a reply.  Summary: don't use that site; you may not survive to appreciate the result.

I can understand your disappointment. An audit will be undertaken.
