Hello,
my family and I are considering relocating to Portugal. I am self-employed, have an established business with international clients so finding work is not an issue.

However, I was wondering if Portugal is a good place to be self-employed, as social security contributions seem extremely high, and then of course there's still tax after that.

If any self-employed people out there would like to share their experience, i'd be happy to hear from them.

Hi!

I would strongly recommend for you to get in touch with a tax adviser. There are multiple ways to manage a self-employee situation from a tax and social security, all depending if you're setup as an individual or company for tax reasons. Also, there might be different options for people moving into the country, so you might want to have all detailed information on which is the best setup for you.
