Driving from Vegas to Cancún Mexico

Which route to cross into Mexico is the safest.  Is it Agua Prieto, or Laredo or Brownsville?

Given those choices I would say agua prieta border, but I wouldn't do it myself. I would chose Nogales.

Douglas is a tiny city which is okay, but the Mexican side is a bit rough. Nogales is much tamer and efficient easy travel. The idea of brownsville is scary. It is considered one of the worst for a reason. Actually I didn't mention Laredo, because , like Brownsville it is in Texas, and though it's better than Brownsville I skip it also.

So it depends on how much excitement you are up for I guess.

Buena suerte

Hi, my wife and I travelled Mexico for 10 years till 2013.
First, it depends where you will be travelling to west or east coast or inland Mexico.
Let's presume you are going to Mazatlan or further down the west coast then, based on my personal experience and since you are travelling from Vegas, the best and most normal point of entry to Mexico would be Nogales (toll road 15D) avoiding downtown  Nogales.
You can stop on the US side walk to the Mexican side get all your paperwork done then the next morning drive to Mexico up to your first overnight stop (not sure if still doable with the new toll road), don't forget to know up front where you want to go. Average speed is not the same in Mexico then in the USA.

You can check the following web site http://www.rollinghomes.com/ on RVing in Mexico "book available" on line updates. Also, buy the mexican road map "guia roji" http://www.guiaroji.com.mx/guia-roji-at … 1822785xJM , best road atlas the price is in pesos so 220$pesos is about 12$USD. It is available at all PEMEX gas station, could also be available at good library in USA but more expensive. You can also check and use the mexican service for a "viaje seguro" safe travel http://ttr.sct.gob.mx/mappir/movil/inde … #routepage by entering Nogales, Sonora as start point and Mazatlán, Sinaloa as final destination, it will give you roads, tolls, time, personnaly we prefer the good old road atlas.
Finally, Google map could be another option which is quite accurate for Mexico.

Personnaly, we never had problem when travelling in Mexico.

Buen viaje, GyC.
