What is the safest and quickest way to get to San Miguel De Allende from Ajijic or Chapala Mexico. I am unable to find any information on the transportation between these two areas.  We will be going there for 10 days and want to split our time between the two locations.

The simplest way to get to San Miguel from ajijic is to take a bus to Guadalajara

Get off in the Alamo and travel to the New bus station, from there take a bust to San Miguel

It takes about 6 hours to get there, the bus station in San Miguel is very small, so no worries about getting lost (unlike the one in Mex or Guad)

It's also very affordable

Otherwise you take a plane to Querétaro and then a bus to San Miguel

Hope this helps

PS...they use to have buses from Chapala that would go straight into the "New bus station" in Guad, not sure if they still do...if so, that would save you the transfer

Check in the Chapala bus station
