Hi, Terence here from Ireland now living in Santiago! If you're moving to Santiago and need help finding a lovely apartment or house and somebody to show you the ropes I'd be very happy to help. This is a fantastic city but from my own experience of moving here it really helps to have someone to give you the inside track. Best of luck, Terence.

Julien,

Is there someone we can work with to help in our touring of the country or in finding an aparmtent in a safe part of Santiago that we can call home for 2 months this coming July?

I'm looking for an apartment in the heart of Santiago for my husband and I as we tour the country to see if we will relocate to Chile permanetly next year after his retirement in the States.  I need a place in Santiago for 2 months and then a place in Calama for one month while we tour the extreme northern part of Chile.

Thanks for what ever information you can give me.

Hi AuntieFlo,

Don't go to Calama if you want to explore Northern Chile. Calama is a city developed by miners. It's ugly and uncomfortable. You should rent something in Antofagasta or San Pedro de Atacama (very expensive though).

good luck!

Hi AuntieFlo & Julien,

There are a number of people I can put you in touch with to help but I'm not sure that's allowed on the forum - I'm a first time blogger so I'm not sure how it works - can I give someone my personal e mail?

Regards,

Terence

AuntieFlo

Amvade,

Thank you so much for the information.  I will check out Antofagasta instead.

Cheers.

Hello, i just send a private message to AuntieFlo, i didnt see this topic first.....sorry about that.
I am new at this site, very interesting,
I must say that i disagree with amvade about not going to Calama....i actually live in Calama, and , although it is not a very nice city, it is the best way to explore northern part of Chile, that's because  most attractive places are near to San Pedro, and Antofagasta is really far from San Pedro¡, 320km...... instead Calama is only 100 km away of San Pedro,
if you're planning visit places near of San Pedro ( very beautiful btw) it could be really exhaustive travel from Antofagasta oftne, so you will have to pay an hostal or something in San Pedro and , as amvade said, it's really expensive.

For example, you can visit El Tatio directly from Calama, it's about 100 km away ( same distance than san pedro to El tTatio)

Antofagasta is a nice city (compared to calama it is actually a CITY) but it doesn't have much of  attractive, no beaches near, mmm in my opinion....

Well, any question you have i can help you AuntieFlo ot any other members :-)
