I got married last week. Made the appoint for my wife at the embassy to bring her home with me. Well, now the embassy is saying I have to go back to Phoenix, Arizona to file documents. I need to know if anyone recently has gotten married in Romania and how they did to get there wife back home. I know the laws changed in Aug 2011. I need some help to get my wife home.

Yes she is Romanian. I had to make a appointment with the embassy and they told me I had to file I-130 and 2-325A documents in Phx,Az. I am heartbroken and very sad. The embassy in Bucharest wasn't helpful at all. I leave Friday morning for Phx,Az my hometown I have to return to work.

Well, the embassy was helpful in that they told what forms you need to start with, though you probably could have found out online.  You might be disappointed, but they cannot circumvent the law, which only allows Americans living in Romania to file at the embassy.  In any case, there was never a chance that you were going to walk into the embassy and immediately walk out with a immigration visa and and jump on a flight with your new bride.  It just does not work that way anymore in the world.

From what I've heard from a close personal friend whose brought his Romanian spouse over, it takes 3-6 months to process, as long as the paperwork, interviews and so forth go as hoped.  That's not a long time, compared to other countries.  U.S military members spend longer periods than that apart from their families, so I think you'll manage to wait out the relatively short period.

Good luck.
