Hi,
My visa runs out on the 18th Jan 2011, and my Australian girlfriend and I (I'm from the UK) are flying to New Zealand on the 6th Feb 2011 - all flights & visas applied for & approved. However that leave a period of 2 and a half weeks where I will be living in Australia without any kind of visa.
I've tried applying for an extension to my visa but it's at a cost of $235. If I rocked up at the airport on the 6th Feb with all my details, is there a chance I could get fined for overstaying my visa?

Hi,
The next time you try to re enter Australia, it is possible you could be banned from entering and sent home because the computer will show you overstayed your visa.
