I'm very excited that my husband has finally agreed to move to France.  Not just yet but imminent.  We own our home in the UK so will be selling up to purchase somewhere in the Brittany region.  My neighbor purchased a 2nd home there some years ago so we are very fortunate to get an insight of what lies ahead and have taken on board some very valuable advice from them. I still have my 2 sons living at home (23 and 19 respectively) and once they are on their own journeys we are free to move.  We are at the very start of our "dream" to move to France and plan to pop over to St Malo and venture around next summer.  My husband of 7 years is a Self Employed Landscape Gardener/Garden Maintenance worker and we plan to work on the land as a joint venture to derive some income but his business here in the UK will be run by his 2 Son's.  We are very much looking forward to the years ahead travelling and exploring with plans to eventually realise our dream.

HI S Teffifi - I think this is something we need to sort out.  I'm going to look at night school to see what around before we venture off.  thanks for advice.

It's above all that French people don't speak English apart high-graudated... And even at this level, it's not brilliant...

Something else, you are from Portsmouth and me from Caen, a ferry ride separates us, it's funny :)

Yes I live 5 min from the Portsmouth to St Malo ferryport which is so fab for us.  We cant wait to go off for a long weekend next Spring and see what St Malo has to offer.  I took your advice re speaking French and me and my husband are off to lessons April next for a 10 week beginners course.  I'm 49 so I hope I can cope with learning!!!

Hi. We moved here lock stock and barrel 7 yrs ago. We already ran a succesful business in UK and now run same thing here in Brittany.  Tho i am not fluent French i must say its the Most important thing you have to tackle. If you do hope to work here it is essential.  Its a myth that all French speak some English. Trust me they don't. Not even proffesionals like doctors, tax office, hospital staff etc.  You dont need to be perfect but confident enough to have a go. You will gain respect for it.
we live nr Lannion.  We are always willing to help.
