Visiting Athens November 18th-22, 2010

Alliecat

Hi everybody,

I'm an American, working in Riyadh, KSA.  I'll be taking a holiday in Athens November 18-22 (then over to Istanbul for 4 days) and I'm wondering if anybody can recommend any good restaurants near Plaka?  I want to avoid tourist traps and just enjoy some good food at a reasonable price.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Depends how you define good restaurants :D I do not tend visiting restaurants, as i can cook pretty well. But if you aim for something that has a Greek flavour to it and is cheap - good quality, you could have a go at Monastiraki Square where a few classic Greek Tavernas are offering Souvlaki and you can combine that with a healthy Greek salad ;)

everwhere around athens, choose the small tavernas to eat in rather than the big fancy restos, the food is much cheaper in those place and much tastier. avoid big places. hope that helps
