Hi

My daughter has just been offered a nursery place in st Christophers to start in September,  my daughter and I will be relocating to Bahrain around the middle of August to join my husband and I will not have a car for a little while,  is there a good taxi company you can use for school drop offs and pick ups ( and maybe a trip to the shopping centre etc) and approx price ( we looking at living jasra/hamala  )? Or what may be my alternative options please?
Thanks in advance

I'm sure the school will have their own bus service for students. But for you, I recommend using Speedy Motors (+973 17682999) and during peak hours, use Bahrain Taxi (+973 36688614) as it's nearly impossible to get a taxi with Speedy during commute hours.

Thanks so much, I'm not sure on a school bus but I have not read on st christophers website of one.

I'm just trying to work out in advance of moving my best options of travel ( as im guessing it will take a few weeks to sort me a car out or to gain confidence to drive in a different county) I may only move a week before my little girl starts nursery .

Most school's have school buses but they are not directly employed by the school so you just find one that is in your area and see if you can join it.  Unfortunately, most of them, in my opinion are downright dangerous.  BSB is now employing its own bus drivers and escorts and has bought new buses with seatbelts, fire extinguishers etc. Let's hope that other schools follow suit.

Your other options are to rent a car and drive her yourself - I found it was better just to get on with it - the more I thought about it the more stressed I became.  Or find a "private" driver.  As Brightonguy says most taxi's are totally full during school run/commute times.

Good luck.

The school doesn't have a bus company. They do however recommend a private bus company - Call 00973 1773 1661. Mr Ali is the man in charge. The cost is BD90 per term per child. Don't go the taxi route, stupidly expensive. If you live on a compound you may find other mums taking their kids to St Chris and you can car pool
