how does Malta post deal with parcel deliveries if you are out when they arrive?
Is it the same as UK in that you get a note to visit local depot to collect?

have one coming next week sometime and don't want to be at hame all the time " just in case"

cheers

They will put a form through the door advising you when you can collect it and where, usually your local post office the next working day.

Sometimes it will say that they will try to deliver it the next day, this depends on if its your regular postman who has it or a parcel delivery van (because of the parcels size).

If Your not at home You will get a note where you can collet the parcel, if it far away You can mmail the pos and ask them to bring it to the nearest post office or bring it to Your Place for a fee about 4 euro I Think.

If it's urgent, you can usually collect it from the MaltaPost office in Qormi the same day in the evening, although there tends to be a rather long queue.
Alternatively, ask the sender to provide you with the tracking ID so you can track your parcel on MaltaPost's web site.

The tracking only works within Malta if its posted in Malta in my experience.
If posted outside Malta the tracking on the Malta post website ends when it is received in Malta and does not tell you when it will be delivered.

Lucky me - it arrived today shame i was in Valletta ;-(

Got the green card in the post box so will go to local Post office tomorrow and see if its there.

I'm in Swieqi so I'm assuming ( maybe wrongly) that San Gwann is my nearest, it certainly appears so from the list on the card.

Another new adventure begins ;-)
