Hi

my name is Stuart, I was born in Botswana, since then I have moved to the UK with my family. I have a British passport and i want to move to SA with my partner of 3 years and 4 months. She is South African and hold a SA passport and ID. We want to move in July to PE.

My questions are

1. Which Visa's should i apply for?
2. Is it better to get a life partner Visa whist in the UK or apply once I am in SA?
3. How much does it cost?
4. How long does it take?

further to this information we are going to be living with my partners mother once we have arrived and then look for work and other accommodation.

5. What do I need to work in SA?

That you very much your help will be much appreciated

Stuart

Hi Stuart

Based on what you wrote:
1. Which Visa's should i apply for?
You can only apply for one permit at a time, best would be the Relative's Permit (Life Partner version).

2. Is it better to get a life partner Visa whist in the UK or apply once I am in SA?
In the UK.

3. How much does it cost?
There is no fee to Home Affairs.

4. How long does it take?
A difficult question. In the UK, from one week to a few months. In SA, longer.

Good luck!

Thanks So Much!

Few more questions:

1) Where do I find the relatives Permit application form, are the addition for the working endorsement?

2) Do I need a job offer for a working endorsement?

3) Will this application be processed in London as well?

Thanks,

Stu

1) What if I don't have a job offer could I apply for one once I do in SA?
Yes, but then you will enter on a different permit/visa I assume?

2) Do I need an vaccinations or health checks?
Yes, all permits (not holiday visas) need a chest x-ray and doctor's checkup certificate.

Just done an xray, NHS charged me £100. You need to ask your GP to request xray for immigration purpose and you will get a letter from the nearest hospital.
GP will issue you with doc cert, better to use the SA forms. my xray came on a cd with a letter stating i dont have TB.
