Hi to Jeddah forum,

I've recently arrived in Jeddah, living at the moment on Herra Street,I'm originally from Scotland.

I've been working in the Middle East for the last 6 years, I lived in Jeddah 4 years ago but old friends have moved on so I'd be grateful for any advice on where's good to visit and any future social events to help try and fill my free time.

Hoping to make a few friends on the forum, wouldd be grateful for any advice on choice of compounds since I'll start looking for one in the new year.

Hello chinabhoy.

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

Hope you'll get some advices from other members soon.

Thank you,
Aurélie

In my opinion, the best compounds for singles in Jeddah are Hajareen near Red Sea mall and Sharbatly Village northeast end of Jeddah.but be ready to be in a long waiting list as it is the case with all compounds in Jeddah.
As for social activities in Jeddah...can't remember the last time I have been in one , soooo good luck

chinabhoy

Thanks Ahmadaq I'll check them out, yip I expected a lack of social life, I spent every Friday at the beach last time I was here!!

ahmadaq

A nice relaxing day at the beach doesn’t sound to me as a bad option !!!...My Fridays use to be limited to 10 Tall extra hot Starbucks Cappuccino's

JasfurJQ

Welcome Chinabhoy, don't you worry sooner or later you'll find places and people to hang with....good luck :)

chinabhoy

Hmmm, I think I'm gonna miss friday brunch in Dubai!!

btw thats way too much coffee, cut out the coffee and start smoking probably healthier haha

chinabhoy

Cheers JasfurJQ, I'm sure I'll find something to do

ahmadaq

You can have 5 cups of coffee or more as long as it is decaf. :)

chinabhoy

Think we should start a new thread how much coffee is too much

dragonladyoz

You can still do Friday brunch - there is a top 10 list of brunch places at Jeddah Food. Having done half the list during summer some are fairly reasonable.

ahmadaq

I like Al Bilad Hotel friday brunch . Use to go there with a friend but for their early Friday's breakfast before it gets 2 expensive for what it is

chinabhoy

Thanks dragonladyoz and ahmadaq I'll try them in the new year

I know I'm off-topic in here, but guys you might want to try Hot Waves Burger at Cornish next to Attallah Happy Land. I grantee you the best burger in Jeddah.

What a nonsense!
A burger can not be best or even good per se
