Are you afraid of dying one day?

Worried about not living !!!  ... the key is living ..

Not what you DO in life .. but how you LIVE your life and the positive influences left behind.

Too many people treat what they do as if they were spectators .. what happenned to doing the best you can for as long as you can in everything ...
FEAR - False Evidence Appearing Real

I'd like to be alive when I pass .. so that I get to have another ultimate experience ...

Matthew 25:15:
"Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour"
God will decide whwen you die renounce the spirit of the world,
and the flesh and renounce the devil and sin.
Convert and Repent!
Pray to God!

Sin has to be examined to determine exactly what constitutes a hell worthy infraction and what would be more a little slap on the wrist with a "you really shouldn't do that again".

So may popes have committed sin but still managed to get canonised so, assuming you believe Catholic dogma, "What you hold true on Earth; I will hold true in Heaven"; you have to assume they fornicated their way to a nice cloud with a lovely view of the coast.

That sort of makes the idea of sin a bit useless and, in turn, the devil must me more that a little upset at loosing so may top quality arses to stick hot pokers up.

Now I, myself, follow the bishop of Bath and Wells and his concept of sin as so well laid out in this video.

As for fear of death, Indonesia (as with the church) is extremely corrupt so I'm sure I can find some bugger to bribe (Maybe including a bit of buggery) so I can get to heaven and sit with the Almighty Allah.
OK, the big dude wouldn't want me too close because my bum burps really stink but I'm sure I can make it upstairs.

Having said that; if I go downhill, I've already researched Dante's version of the nine circles of hell but there doesn't seem to be one that covers all the sins I'm guilty of.
As long term forum members will know; I've smashed 9 out of 10 of the rules Moses humped down that big hill, only to find his pals dancing, cavorting and generally being very naughty around a golden idol.
Adultery was the most commonly broken and easily the most fun.
I was once asked - "does that mean you've stolen another man's wife?" - "No", replied I, "Just borrowed".
Perhaps the hot dude with the cloven hooves will just promote me t head demon and issue me a pitchfork.

Whatever way around - I'm pretty sure I'm in for some great fun when I finally curl up my toes and some non necrophiliac buries me; hopefully after some necrophiliacs have had a bit of fun.

I don't see death as a reason to stop having sex.

I wouldn't be logging on to Expat.com as often if werent for you two

on a more serious note to you fred. dude, that was deep. I kind of understand you, it sounds twisted, but thats the only way I would even think to try to understand you.

It was pretty big year for predators
The marketplace was on a roll
And the land of opportunity
Spawned a whole new breed of men without souls
This year notoriety got all confused with fame
And the devil is downhearted
Because there's nothing left for him to claim

Once you are born...death is a certainty. Personally I don't think that i would be afraid when my time comes. My theory is as long as I don't do any harm to others I have nothing to be afraid off.

We are born to live and then we die!!!!  easy !

One of the most empowering things for me was realizing that I am only temporary.

I will die one day. That is all I know.

There may or may not be an afterlife. We may rot in the ground.

Now is all I have.

So that means my life is up to me, here and now.

My choices, decisions, thoughts, words and actions are all in my hands at the present moment.

I will die when I run out of goals. If death gets me before then, I will be to busy looking good and living my life, that I will not even see death get me.

I love being alive. :)

No at all

I'd much rather die one day than all of them.

I gave this more brain time and concluded, I'm not afraid of death but...

I had food poisioning on Monday and felt close to the grim reaper's touch but a side effect of my weakened state was  'Mr. Floppy'

No matter how much ovine porn I viewed....nothing.

That made me afraid.

Now my usual superpowers are restored, all is well but will there be a day when I  no longer able to. .....well.

That makes me afraid.

Too much information, Fred!

i don't fear death , I fear reaching death with all the things i wanted to finish undone , all the dreams that i'm dreaming , all the change i want to change "there is that line by an arabic poet called omar al khayam that says " I don't fear death but i fear when it's too late " , other than that returning to nun is actually excites me

Dying is like turning off the light switch. Click and is dark! My only concern is dying alone and not been found for a while.  I want to make sure that my dogs don't fight or God knows what! I would like to have someone with me when my time comes. I have had my life and I can say I have lived.  When I die I am sure I will want to live longer but, I would not want to know when my time has come. I think most people feel the same as I do!

The rest of us as well.

Hi Maria

It would be great if we had someone by our side when our time comes. And you know what....if it were at all possible I would like to know when my time came...LOL. Crazy huh?? I'm not afraid of dying as that's a sure thing. But by knowing when my time came there is so much i would want to do...unfinished business i guess you could say....LOL. Cheers...

You can't think of that all the time.  You can't live your life in fear!  That is no life at all!  I'm surprised that you are so young and you are afraid? Don't be and don't think about it.  You can't do anything to change that fact, until that comes just live with gusto!

I can't believe that one day i will die and leave the world when there's so much to live for. If there could be a way to escape death...

we all sin..the thing i wonder about... if there is such a thing as heaven or hell..how bad do yr sins have to be to get to hell..or how good do u have to be to get to heaven...i mean is there a points system or what?..maybe god could start a website, where we can check in to see where we are at..".u know" how many sins to go to reach hell etc...

When I die, the decomposition of my body will fertilize the soil where flowering plants will grow and in turn, beautiful roses will blossom and it will put a smile on someone's face

Unless you die in New Jersey.

lovely thought hericles

me i just think how the worms will have a good feed...lol...but if i die at home (new zealand)..they will miss out..as most people are now being cremated..not enough ground for us all...so  i think my destiny will be to pollute the air instead..

I know I'll snuff it one day and I know I'll become a ghost.
As walls will no longer be an obstacle; showers would be accessible.
The NSA would be jealous of my snooping abilities.

The NSA is already looking into ghost operatives.  They might call you some day.

for me my religion will give you the anwser :
Muslims believe that the present life is a trial in preparation for the next realm of existence. When a Muslim dies, he or she is washed and wrapped in a clean, white cloth (usually by a family member) and buried after a special prayer, preferably the same day. Muslims consider this a final service that they can do for their relatives and an opportunity to remember that their own existence here on earth is brief.

Your religion will give me the answer for you?

when i said for me, i ment what islam say about after death

I'm not sure that's more clear, but does that mean you are afraid of dying?

soory , sometimes i cant not clarify my ideas in english , but
i will give a short anwser :
death is a gift for a momin(beleiver in islam) beleive in see that link :
islamreligion.com/articles/38/
, we should not fear death but fear the punishment in the grave for the bad things that we've done in our lives .:)

Death is not a thing that we should over worry. Cherish the present and chase your dream. As Andy in Shawshank redemption says: busy living or busy dying, which do you choose?

The_Loner wrote:

The_Loner,
When you find that magic way, please send it to me immediately :D

As for continuation the short answer:

If you want to be resurected as soon as possible your best chance today is cryostasis.
Your second best bet is to make sure you are buried in a sealed plastic bag like a binliner and make sure none of the molecules you  were alive in get away.
As a third bet you can somewhat expect that when our solar system reaches a point where matter is used in it's most efficient way, ie to generate the most intelligence with the least amount of matter, we would be able to get recreated. If string theory is correct all matter could be put in relation to itself in any state it was in time, we could thus be resurrected and afterwards be incorporated in a digital simulation where we would be presented with choices. Why digitized ? We would not be able to stay in our newly assembled actual molecules since most of us would be composed of molecules of the previous generations as well.

Bottom line, in a purely non religious sense, and even if you actively ignore the whole existential dread theme, there is a significant chance there will be something after you die.

Regards.

yes :(

hi,am not this is our final destination one day that we have to understand!

There is no Final Destination.  They just keep making more and more.
