UK moving to Spain with non-EEA spouse...then back to the UK

Hello everyone,

I am British and I have been offered and accepted a job in Spain (one hour outside of Barcelona).

My husband is Egyptian and we are in the process of preparing our documents to apply for the family reunification visa via the Spanish Embassy in Cairo (where we both live).

I have previously lived in Spain (2008/2009) and I already have a NIE number.

What do my husband and I need to do when we arrive in Spain?

Also, when my job comes to an end (it is a nine month contract) am I considered an EEA national, and can my husband apply for the residence card as the non-EEA spouse of an EEA national?  If this is the case, what documents are required/what is the process? (Or will he himself be an EEA national by this time)?
N.B.  He currently has a UK family visa valid for two years with a maximum stay of 6 months per visit

I hope you can advise me,

Many thanks

Aurélie
