Where to live in Brussels with to chiliers

We are a family of 4 moving to Brussels in September this year. We have not yet found an apartment/house, as we are not sure which area to search in. We will most probably be needing app 180 sqm.

We are:

1 adult will be working at the European institutions
1 adult is self imployed and looking for an office hotel, where contact can be made to other small international companies
2 children - age 3 and 5. The oldest most probably have to start in an international school. The youngest most probably have one more year in per-school.

We would like to find a area, where we can feel we are living in an international environment. At the same time we would prefer if we live fairly close to an international school, not far away from the Europan institutions etc... Is it possible? We do not know...can you help us in this search?

Hope to hear from you!

Best,
DK Family

Firstly, 180m2 is quite large, especially for a family of 4, expect to be paying at least 1800 euro a month for a house that size.

International schools cost from 10k to 30k, make sure you can afford that sort of level of school fees. The local schools are an excellent alternative. Many children of EU officials attend local schools, beyond the time when they could transfer to the European schools. School starts at age 2 1/2 here and by the age of 5, 99% of children go to school full time.

10% of the Belgian population is non Belgian, every area has people from all over the world. Try looking at a public transport map and choose and area with an easy commute to work.

Look on the following schools maps.

Hello DK Family.

Welcome to Expat.com!

Concerning the accommodation, you can try to post an advert in the housing in Brussels section. It should help.

Good luck in your research,
Aurélie
