Pregnancy in Latvia

Hi,

could you please share advice and tips about pregnancy in Latvia?

Who are the best gynecologists for pregnancy follow-ups?

Which hospitals or clinics would you recommend to give birth in Latvia?

Thanks a lot for your advice :)

Christine

Just some info for anyone pregnant :)

I really didn't want to go to public hospital and chose a private clinic Gimenes centra klinika. My midwife was Astrida Millere from here

www.starkaligzda.lv (most of them speak English and/or German)

Got a lot of attention, a very quiet and homely atmosphere and a lot of support afterwards. The best thing was a private room (which you wouldn't get in a public hospital). Also keep in mind that public hospitals HAVE to keep you for at lest 3 days, but most probably 5. While private clinics et you go home the next day or even the same day, if everything is ok.

If you wish to give birth with your partner (or any person - mom, sister, friend, etc.), your both have to attend Birth&Pregnancy classes and get a stamp in your Mommy's Passport (which you should get from your gynecologist).

I've attended courses here www.kkm.lv, but I'm not sure if they offer classes in English (but at least they can help with the info).

Thank you for your help lacefactor! ;)
