Opening a bank account in Latvia

Hi all,

is it difficult for expats to open a bank account in Latvia ?

Which documents are required to open a bank account in Latvia ?

How long does it take to open it ?

Is there any restriction for expats regarding the services (loans for instance)  ?

Which bank would you recommend ?

Thanks in advance for your participation,

Julien

We would recommend Norvik Banka.

To open a current account You need to visit their main office:

E.Birznieka-Upisha Street 21, Riga, Latvia

You will also need to submit the following documents:

Certificate of registration *
Articles of association *
Documents certifying signatory rights (Power of Attorney/Resolution of director) *
Certificate of Good standing (if more than 1 year has passed from the moment of company registration) *
Passports of the persons disposing of the account and beneficiary Owners
Other documents upon request

The details for personal bank account you can find on their website
norvik.lv

It is actually quite difficult for foreigners to open a personal bank account in Latvia.  You really need to have residency.

Otherwise you can open an account in a company name as long as the company is not blacklisted in Latvia.  Let me know if you need help with this.  There are a couple of really good banks here, but it depends on what you need the account for.

Actually you can open an account as non resident in Latvia, either by visiting the bank or by sending signed ccount opening contract and notarized copy of passport with an apostille as additional legalization. You can find more info on website - latviabankaccount.com/

The easiest way is to open bank account in Norvik or AB.LV banks.
Requirements may vary, but it will be cheaper and you will have less headache if you have a resident permit in Latvia
