Portuguese D7 Visa Medical Insurance - With Type 1 Diabetes

Most insurers in Portugal do cover pre-existing conditions, but usually after 360 days from the moment you enrolled.

I've been looking into it all morning and haven't been able to get any clearcut information on the matter, other than I'm not covered for my pre-existing condition (which I knew anyway).

This is the only potential barrier stopping me getting the visa.

Affordable insurance that meets the SEF requirements including repatriation is available through axa-schengen. A six month policy meeting the base needs is about 185 euros.

Hi Glen. Is a Portuguese policy adequate for a D7 visa. Will it have repatriation to home country?

I am looking to apply for a D7 visa but heath insurance is a stumbling block. Policies in UK are extortionate and I struggle because of various pre existing conditions.

There are various opinions about travel insurance. One broker provided a 1 year policy but longest stay of 180 days and said it was ok but other websites say travel insurance not good enough.

I would be very grateful for any advice you are able to give. kind regards Neil MacDonald
