Hi there,

Am a bit bored in Cairo, and would like to play some poker (No-Limit Hold'Em). I tried a few casino's but it seems that all of 'em have strange "Texas Hold'em" variant (more like a mix between Poker and Blackjack).

Do you know any place where I can play "real" poker (ie against other players, not the house) ?

If not, some of you might be interested in a (somewhat) regular private game ? Both Cash Games or Tournaments are possible. I know already 2 people that are willing to play, but we'll need at least 2 or 3 more.

In the Gezira Sporting Club there are some private groups who play daily poker. Good luck

Hey Sam. I wouldn't mind getting a game together. You could count me in! You are right it is hard to find a poker game here.

Dear "Brutte",

I am not sure if you are aware that this thread is 10 years old? Nevertheless, I think it is a good idea to revive this idea. When I asked for a proper Poker table in a Casino here in Zamalek the very friendly croupier explained to me, that gambling games (for money) where people play against other people and not against the casino, are not allowed. The explanation for it I found quite interesting. If I recall correctly - it was already some years ago - the reason was that people at the poker table might know the other players and their families and a possible (big) loss against another player might lead to "dissonances" between the families... ;-)

So I think the only chance is to organise private poker tables. I will be happy to participate or even to host such an event as long as enough people are interested and there is a common understanding about the rules and the limits (if any). So let's see and wait if somebody else here drops a positive message...
