The cost of filling a two-bedroom apartment in Cali Colombia

I moved to Barranquilla in December 20220, finally found a completely unfurnished apartment about a month later. I kept a detailed log - item by item, as well as sources/shops - of what it cost me to furnish it completely (when the exchange rate was about 4,200COP = 1USD). Aside from washer+dryer combo and fridge, I got some kitchen stuff, some bathroom stuff, recliner sofa, TV, dining set, 2 beds, 2 nightstands, etc. I work from home, so I also got a nice office desk and a very nice comfortable office chair.

The whole apartment-furnishing project cost me about $4,500. If it's just you living alone (like I was and still am), I'm thinking your budget should be between $3000 and $4,000. Probably significantly less, if you don't need all the stuff I got while having hopes that I would get lucky, meet a good woman, and start a family here in this trash city, LOL! 😆

Anyway... send me a private message and I'd be glad to share my whole-a$$ spreadsheet with you. That way, you can eliminate all the row items that don't apply to you, and get a better estimate. Cheers!

I rent a 3 bed 2.5 bath townhome in a gated community in Popayan for less than 400 USD per month. Cali will probably be a little more on average.

Try to avoid MABE. For fridge, washer/ drier. Made in Colombia ( here in Manizales actually).but.always maintenance problems  and they charge you a lot for.replacement.parts.

Of course at least 50% cheaper than GE and the like, so choice is yours.
