Are you using a visa service or lawyer?

They will give you examples.

Aren't M visas multiple-entry while tourist stamps aren't ? If so, that would be a reason.

Not sure what stops you coming in and out multiple times in a yar as long as your total is less than 180.

Never been an issue for me nor other people I.know who travel.in and out frequently

@nico peligro You are probably correct as to not getting more information here than there. On the other site yourself, myself, and about three other posters comprise 95% of the posts. But I do get occasional good information there and there IS a PM option here So. As to the other question of being a resident or 180 day wonder and owning property in Colombia; I do bounce back and forth like a ping pong ball every time I get new information (that may no longer be valid with the next legislative session). So that said, I am sort of playing both sides of the issue. I will more that likely get an M visa and remain in country enough to keep it valid and also remain out of the country enough to not become a tax resident. A marriage visa may allow me some advantages that others don't get such as being carried on my wife's insurance and not having income requirements. Time will tell.

IN addition I have recently learned a lot about the application process and a few errors that I have made. It is relatively cheap to apply and I would like to learn to navigate the system since I probably will have to do this four times before getting citizenship...if I decide to do so.

I have never seen any Colombia visa facilitator or blogger specifically address the issue. On the other hand, I have seen it addressed with respect to Ecuador. For example from the thevisaproject,

As per Ecuador visa requirements, the longest you can stay in Ecuador is 180 days in a Calendar year. It’s the same for people entering on a tourist visa and for people who are visa exempt.

It can be a continuous stay or various visits during the period of one calendar year. You can make multiple entries, as long as you are only in the country for 90 days total. Entry and exit days count as full days.

Also, I asked Diana from that visa outfit about it once and I got a non-answer.

@nico peligro  Yes, after few lack luster attempts to get the ball rolling with two "immigration specialists" I am going to "probably" piss away a couple of hundred dollars on a few more attempts. I am still 3-6 months out from retirement (probably) and have the time to mess around with it a bit. At the end of the day all an attorney can do is submit what you supply them with anyway. Unless they have an inside path or prior experience they are not of much use. Anyway, I will be happy to submit what happens her with my journey so that others can benefit.

@nico peligro I was hoping for the generosity of one of the few posters who claim to have successfully done this process themselves since the new rules (what ever they may be) take effect. Those two posters have not responded, but they are infrequent posters and I cannot PM them in the other forum. The Visa agencies are happy to write a letter once you pay them to do the visa; but, they are not going to share that information for free.

Note: I would be more than happy to pay the reasonable fees for such visa assistance; however, I have yet to have a conversation with any of them that are have a notable degree of success. At first I though it was due to animosity on the part of Colombian officials. I now believe it to be more ignorance, laziness, and general drive to be of service. I believe I  can muddle through this with several attempts...
