I was raised in a small town just south of Atlanta, Georgia, where people say things like "y'all" and "bless your heart" and greet you with a glass of sweet tea. It wasn't until college when I got this burning desire to leave the only place I had called home and explore other cultures and ways of life. Now I'm proud to say that I've been living in Mexico for over a year, and hopefully many more!

The day before my 30th birthday, I walked across the border from San Diego to Tijuana to board a one-way flight to Mexico City. I was finally moving abroad and I couldn't be more excited. Surprisingly, I didn't experience any culture shock, for which I thank my many trips to Tijuana during my years in San Diego.

Currently, we're on a long road trip around Mexico, with short-term stays in Airbnbs throughout the trip. We're in Tulum at the moment, but we plan to go to Chiapas next, and then Oaxaca, and then to other places along the Pacific coast. The goal is to figure out where we want to spend the rest of our lives in Mexico, so hopefully we find some places that we absolutely adore!

Hello CJ, Welcome to expat-Mexico

Sounds like you are doing ok. How are you adjusting to the restrictions? Masks. hand sanitizers, lines, social distances, etc. I notice you don't mention them in your adjustment.
I've done the traveling around and still try to, but the restrictions have slowed me down a lot. It's hard to go into places that have locked strangers out. Recently Merida has opened up again so I will be back on the road. If I were you I would check the status of the places you plan to go to. Some are still considered in the red.

i live in Nuevo Vallarta, going to Cancun, Tulum, Cozumel, and baracla, then heading back south,

places are only red if you read social media,

Puerto Vallarta was red, i went to see whats was happening,

people walking around freely, some with a mask as they fear the cv19, lots without a mask,

I think it's up to everyone to option, the mask not a protector but a divider to the people,

It will never be the same again, but we have to try and enjoy the love and beauty we have,

have a beautiful weekend,,
