She needs to go to immigration to see what the requirements are for her situation. Only they have the answers.

I interpret your question to be: Does your friend, who is mexican, need to formally invite you to satisfy Mexico immigration requirements. The answer is NO

You on the other hand need to have minimally, a valid passport. If a mexican embassy/consulate is convenient, make an appointment to verify what documentation is needed for you to enter Mexico. If an embassy/consulate is unavailable go to the mexican government website. https://consulmex.sre.gob.mx/reinounido … countries.

Depending on country of passport, you may be eligible for a 180 day visa on arrival. If not you will have to apply for a visa through the designated MX consulate.

As always, it is difficult to navigate through a MX government website.
