Numerous students in Mexico City will acknowledge that it is a peaceful location, with plenty of space for them to live peacefully and things to see and do in their free time. To summarize, it is far less stressful than other megacities, and there are numerous options to live the life you choose without exhausting yourself or your wallet.

Student accommodation in Mexico City

For example, suppose you are a student seeking inexpensive accommodation in Mexico City. In that case, you can look for student housing options provided by your university or wander about the campus and adjacent neighborhoods, searching for brochures and huge signs indicating availability. You may save a lot of money on this front, especially if you are open to sharing a room with a housemate. A good start is to check Facebook groups or the marketplace - you can find plenty of people looking for a roomie! Prices can be anywhere between 200 USD and 1000 USD depending on the location and the apartment!

The cost of living in Mexico City

Students often spend between $500 and $800 a month on food, transportation, and housing. As you might guess, most of a student's budget is dedicated to paying rent. As a result, many students opt to divide the expense with others. Utility expenditures, including internet access, are low, as is the cost of water supply.

If you keep track of the money, it may be quite reasonable. Meals at most institutions are reasonably priced and contain traditional Mexican cooking that is so wonderful that many folks from neighboring areas frequent cafeterias.

Lunch may be grabbed for less than $3. Buying groceries, such as fresh vegetables, is much simpler than in other areas of the world, and if you want to get the most value for money while still having a good time, you must visit “mercados” or public marketplaces as often as possible. They are also excellent locations for a quick snack or freshly squeezed juice.

Even if you have a limited amount of money as a student, you may shop wisely and purchase fruits and vegetables at the regular market every week for less than U$ 20. This is great news for individuals who want to continue cooking their favorite foods.

A night out is far less costly than in other large cities. You have complete control over the sort of encounter you want to have. Stop by a pulqueria for a sip of this low-alcohol, fermented drink that includes a variety of tasty flavors. In most pubs and nightclubs, a jug of pulque is around 60 pesos, while a bottle of beer costs around 50 pesos. Bars, in general, are cheaply priced, as are many dance clubs, including those in ostensibly more upscale areas such as Zona Rosa near Insurgentes and Reforma, and even the city center. Many new bars popped up in Condesa and Roma Norte area. If you like fancy, Polanco is your style.

Leisure in Mexico City

There is a huge party scene in Mexico City, so strong that many people consider the weekend to begin on Thursday, or as it is colloquially known, "little Friday." Many young people love how different each adventure may be from one night to the following.

Mexico City appears to be quite appealing to students who are eager to travel the world. As a starting point, one might explore adjacent prominent cities. Guadalajara, Cholula, and Puebla are all major tourist sites. Several bus and airplane companies provide students with a variety of discounts.

Public transport like the metro is already very affordable in Mexico City. However, they do offer a special student card that gives you a discount. The only requirements are that you are between 6 and 23 years old, live in CDMX, and are inscribed in a facility in the city. In addition, you will have to present your birth certificate, official ID, CURP, proof of residence, and inscription at a school/university.

Student discounts in Mexico City

There are several student discounts available across the city. The most prevalent are museums and venues like La Cineteca, the national film theater, where students and professors equally pay a portion of the admission price. But when it comes to cultural centers, you should always check about special offers because they are frequently available.

School materials are also eligible for student discounts. Very well known in the field of electronics, Apple offers several student discounts that are very useful at the end of the summer, just before school begins. Computer software is also available with student discounts, and you may discover various programs that specialize in various subjects such as engineering and medicine, which can eventually save you a lot of money!
