Automatic Gates After Obtaining Citizenship

Agrosaurus

Hello,

After obtaining Turkish citizenship, does anybody know how to remove the "police hold" that is placed on your new passport that prevents you from using the automatic gates at passport control?  Apparently this occurs because you previously used original-country passport to enter Turkey, so you are automatically flagged by the system.

I don't any criminal record in Turkey or any other country, so there is no other reason for the "police hold".

Hello Agrosaurus,

Welcome to Expat.com 😀

For a more accurate response, I suggest checking directly with the relevant authorities in Türkiye. They will be able to explain why your passport was flagged and advise you on the next steps to remove the “police hold” and access the automatic gates.

All the best,

Cheryl

Would do that if I were fluent in Turkish, but in that case, I wouldn't need to ask the question here.

My language skills are still a work in progress.
