Looking for a contact

Assalamu alaikum,

I'm hoping to connect with English- or German-speaking Muslim families currently living in Tenerife, particularly in the north of the island.

We're a family of six, currently living in Germany, and are considering relocating to Tenerife. We're especially interested in hearing about everyday family life, schooling, the Muslim community and how children settle in.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience who would be happy to have a brief convesation.

Vielen Dank/ Thanks/ JazakAllahu khair

Not first hand expearience, but after a little reasearch....

The majority of the established Muslim community in Tenerife lives in the South (areas like Adeje, Los Cristianos, and Las Américas) or in the capital city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the northeast.

• Mosques & Musallahs: The main Islamic centers, such as the Mezquita de Adeje and the Mezquita de Santa Cruz, host vibrant communities, regular Juma'ah prayers, and weekend Islamic schooling for children. In the true North (like Puerto de la Cruz or the Orotava Valley), formal mosques are rare; smaller, informal prayer spaces (Musallahs) exist but are highly localized and mostly comprised of North African or South Asian expats who speak Spanish or Arabic.

• Halal Food Availability: Finding Halal meat and grocery items is straightforward in Santa Cruz and the South due to established butcher shops (Carnicerías Islámicas). In the North, your options will be more limited, though larger supermarkets carry basic items, and specialized international or Moroccan shops in towns like Puerto de la Cruz supply Halal goods.

If you want your children to be taught in English or German, you'll have to look at international schools which can be pricy and with 4 children, that will add up.
