Carta di soggiorno right to live anywhere in italy

marypiccione27

Hello I am in the process of obtaining a carta di soggiorno through my son who is an Italian citizen and has an Italian passport. Can myself and my son who is under 18 live and have residency anywhere in Italy or can it only be the comune/region he was originally registered in? Can I get my carta di soggiorno from a different region then what he is registered in and then live in that region ?

Do you mean a permesso di soggiorno?  A carta di soggiorno is for people who have been resident for more than 5 years and Brexit residents.  A permesso sounds like it would be more applicable in your case, being the mother of an Italian citizen.   If so, yes you can move around Italy, but must make sure that the renewal is done in time in the province of your current legal residence.
