Working for UK company on a UK contract..but resident in Italy

FrancesPopo

Hello!

We recently moved from UK to Sardinia for my husband's job. I would like to contunie working (remotely) for my UK company however, they have requested I become a contractor to simplify the admin burden of paying into the social system here which they would be obliged to do if i remain as regular PAYE employee.

However it seems to me that even working as a contractor for them, and being paid into a UK bank account, my UK company would still be liable for paying into the social system here if I am a resident here (which I plan to be by virtue of my husband being Italian citizen).

Is there a simpler way to contract for a UK company where they pay me into a UK account and then only I shoulder the burden of organising tax/welfare payments into the Italian system?

Thank you!

Hi Frances, you may qualify for the expat system tax benefits. If you've not been an Italian tax resident in the previous 2 years there are tax reductions. 90% reduction in the south and 70% in the North... a good commercialista can advise you
