That time of year, whose your favourite to win and do you like the new logo?
For those that don't know, it's The Six Nations. - @SimCityAT
I used to love Guinness but I have no idea about M6N. Sounds like rebel group or a rapper. - @fluffy2560
M6N = 6 Nations Rugby 🏉
- @SimCityAT

Yes, got that already.  One of my friends has a very keen interest in it and mentioned it to me.

I only want to be interested if England is going to play in the final.

I used to play Rugby at school.  Pretty brutal.  And some of my family and workmates had connections with it.

But now I think Rugby is a game for men with funny shaped balls.

Maybe that'll get censored.

My son played Rugby League for the local U18 side; he was good, good enough that they won the league and the cup in the season he played and the local scouts were taking an interest; then he found women.  He is still interested in sport, but mainly on TV and in the bar.

Yes, I think we are stuck with generations of Trumps in US politics.
A generational curse that is on us that is!
You never really know, the true villian may be Malaria, she could be pulling the strings? - @Marilyn Tassy
Oh dear, that will be a horror show. I just heard Trump fired the Inspector Generals in violation of Federal law. These are appointed individuals. I can see that being in court very quickly. The guy thinks laws of the land do not apply to him. The King of Chaos has returned!
As for Malaria, hmmm....if Donny passes (one can hope), maybe she'll be pulling Barron's strings but he's too young and we'd have to wait a long time for him to reach the required age to be El Presidente. He'd have to be 35. And by that time, maybe Washington, California and Oregon will have joined Canada. I heard a Canadian ambassador say that on the radio. Hilarious! - @fluffy2560

He sacked 17 IG's; the consensus is the sackings themselves were not illegal as their very appointment was unconstitutional; the problem he will now have is replacing them (because of this reason).

He didn't give the required 30 days notice to Congress so the sackings are illegal.  I expect they'll be challenged.  The IGs have existed for years.  It'll go to SCOTUS.

The next  Donny idea on the agenda are the tariffs on Canada and Mexico etc.

Maybe Canada should be asking the US to start removing their personnel from the Early Warning stations.  No-one is expecting that of course.  And in Europe, their bases can be closed.  But that's possibly what Putin - his handler - wants.  Wouldn't do Putin any harm to see the US removed from Europe.  But once Donny gets shafted in Asia, no-one is coming to help.  His Allies pulled out of Viet Nam and left it to the USA.

Some news reports this AM are now discussing a foreign policy advocated war with Iran  boosted by his gung-ho supporters.    It's mixed up with Israel as well.

Nobel Prize my eye.

Dwarfs, hmm, Barron is 6 foot 7 inches tall, guess we are all dwarfs compared to him. He may even still be growing!
I knew a super nice man in Vegas who happened to be a dwarf. He was the only male who was a regular in our morning yoga classes.
I chatted with him many times before class started.
He had a good job, worked nights in a medical lab.
I also knew a dwarf women at yet another gym I belonged to. Yes, I used to have 2 memberships to 2 different gyms with access to over 20 locations in Vegas between the 2 clubs; I often wondered if I should of invited one of them to join me at a location as my guest so they could meet up. I decided to not try to play Cupid after all; They may of known each other through the grapevine without my help: - @Marilyn Tassy
I'd already forgotten about Barron. Maybe this is positive discrimination against "The Little People".

Mrs Fluffy has a theory that putting two rabbits (or dwarves) together doesn't necessarily lead to romance or even friendship

between them. We occasionally come across Hungarians in other countries and often people try to push us altogether. Of course, just being Hungarian and speaking Hungarian is only unusual in far away places. Not here.

I guess the same applies to dwarves. They could all meet up at the FAA social club.

It seems that I'm making light of a tragedy but DJT started it.

I heard that during the filming of The Wizard of OZ that it was hectic.

The little people had fist fights with each other, got drunk on the set and partied all night long.

Poor Judy!

My parents were friends with a couple back in the 1950s who were both very tall;

They had a custom made house with higher sinks,stoves, cabinets etc. All the ceilings were super high too.

IDK, my dad was shorter then I am and he was the tallest male out of his 4 brothers.5 foot 8 only.

My uncles were all shorter and all very slim built, my father had some muscles and was athletic.

My Ruysn grandfather was not more then 5 foot 6 inches tall and skinny. Hard to see him as a horseman with a sword fighting for the Czar in his teens.Takes all kinds.

I see in Florida they are rounding up people when they go into immigration to take care of their paperwork. Walk in and get arrested.

After decades it must hit hard to be tossed out. There was on HU guy we know who got deported back to Hungary after living in the US for over 30 years. His own fault since it was not that hard coming from a soviet run country. He never held a tax paying job and never bothered getting his papers in order. Not an outstanding person overall either. A drug dealer and grower; Spent 6 years in a Texas prison then was tossed back to Hungary. They sent him to Texas from Hawaii. I bet he was counting on jail in Hawaii with fresh fruits and veggies but no, got those  peanut butter and jelly sandwiches   on the mainland.

Too bad he had 2 small sons from a Japanese lady; She moved back to Japan with their boys.

Went to the farmers market yesterday. IDK but many of the prices on produce are higher there then in a regular shop.

It is still interesting to go there and look around.

I heard the same that the Wizard of Oz was fraught on set.  Judy was somewhat of a fragile person and probably did herself in from an overdose.  Some echoes of Marilyn there.  The small guy from Fantasy Island, Herve, shot himself but probably due to health issues.   Makes you wonder what Hollywood does to people.  Not very good things it seems!  That said, yesterday our daughter was in the TV show FBI International again. She was a mourner at a funeral.

We had a bit of a problem with our bespoke kitchen here at Fluffy Towers.  We said "standard sizes" but for some insane reason, the makers thought everyone here was like Barron sized.  They were actually here and they'd seen us in person.   I'm no giant at 5ft 8in and neither is Mrs Fluffy who is probably only 5ft 4in.  The surfaces were about 4" too high.  We had tell them to make it all smaller.  I think they'd used a template from an previous "giants" kitchen and thought it was the same.  Come to think of it, they had a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings.  We did get other stuff from them, made specifically to order. It sounds fancy but it was actually cheaper to have it made than to buy it in say Ikea and then adapt it.  It worked out in the end with our makers/installers but somethings are not quite right.   Our kids are giants so they probably think it's all too low.

I'm not so bothered about people being deported from the USA but the government there should follow the law.  DJT is not beyond the law and able to do whatever he wants.  I last heard that his idea to send resigning federal workers away with full benefits and pay for 10 months is illegal.  They can only do that for 10 days according to an interview I saw with a Federal Employees Union representative.  The Union rep was saying, don't accept this offer to resign.  I tend to agree with the Union.  It needs to be better worked out.

The other thing is that it appears the memo was written by President Musk who copied it from when he was firing people from X/Twitter.

Interestingly there's some news that the tariff response if the EU is "attacked" is to target Tesla and President Musk.  Possibly even reclassifying social media companies as publishers.  That's totally opposite to US law which shields them now   That'll be interesting to see - better get a lot of popcorn in.

I think prices here are much higher than Eurozone countries.   If only Budapest was closer to the Austrian border.  We'd all be over there buying our weekly shopping.   How things have changed!

Marilyn Tassy

Lately it seems we spend more then we think we will every 2 to 3 days. It is 12,000 here and 14,000 to 17,000 there;

I swear, I do not think I eat much and my husband is not big eater either, he likes his sweets but otherwise he eats just slightly more then I do.

IDK, we do not keep count any longer on our spending on food but it has to be at least over $400; Per month and we often buy discount items.

I do not snack much, if I skip a meal I go down to under 119Lbs or less and that is not good for me.

I try to eat to stay at least a solid 120lbs and I am 5 foot 9 with a slim build.

I know most people have to watch not to gain but I need to watch to keep a normal weight.

Curse or not it is the way it goes.

We do not buy the choicest cuts of meat or the most expensive items in any shop.

I do buy organic of GMO eggs but that is just a few hundred forints more then factory farm;

No idea where the money goes on food lately.

Feel bad for those with not enough income, how mush pasta can a person eat?

I do include household items like detergent and TP in our spending but still... How much TP does on need?

Depends I suppose!

The guy we bought our flat from was taller then average and our kitchen cabinets are placed up rather high.

I can reach but barely.

I always think what if my DIL visits us? She will need a ladder.

Marilyn Tassy

I try to make our meals at least 50 fresh veggies.

I know when we buy avacados the clerks sometimes look at us like they must be rich;

Hardly but I guess most Hungarians would rather buy a chunk of meat then a bag of veggies.

Well it's all kicking off, Trump really has no idea what he is doing regarding the Tariffs. The poor Americans are and will suffer in the long road.

A lot of this is distraction.

He's doing it for his domestic base and risking annoying a small number of his very rich hare-brained supporters.   He only believes in stuff which enhances his own personal position.   He doesn't care really about anyone else.  He's even starting to get annoyed with President Musk.

I did hear an interesting idea around this tariff thing from one commentator.  He said, Trump is essentially going to use the tax/tariff money to enhance the US military to prepare for war.  It was an unusual viewpoint I hadn't heard before.

I am not sure how Trump could fight a global war without the Allies.  Years ago there was general idea that the US could fight two major regional wars at the same time - like North Korea and say in Europe.  Don't know if that's true still.    He has been saying stuff against Iran getting the bomb.  We can all like that but  I guess he'll back off if Putin tells him to.   But Allies aren't going to be in a rush to help.  I remember very clearly Australia being in Viet Nam and they pulled out their troops and left them to it.  And then there was Iraq.  Not all Allies supported the 2nd Gulf War.   And of course, the US left Afghanistan in a hurry - and they usually arrive late too. UK will inevitably want to support the US but it's hard to see the EU countries rushing to help if Trump abandons Europe to Putin.  It's all business anyway - Europe says, we'll buy your equipment and you cover us.   Maybe that no longer applies.

We've got 4 here or 6 if we include the dog and cat.   It's really expensive to live.  But we're really useless with budgeting and controlling our expenditure.  Over the past say, 2 years,   I've see gradually higher prices and smaller quantities at the supermarket.  Even the fuel is getting pricey - like 620 HUF/L for petrol and 645 HUF/L for diesel.  It was much cheaper a while back.  I expect increasing prices for electricity and gas here since the transit stopped via Ukraine.  At least it'll be summer soon.   If I reach retirement age, we can at least cut back on our craziness for cars, electrical gadgets and plane rides.

Just got off the phone to my dad, back safe and well from Tanzania, got back on Wednesday but his body was in pieces so fully recovered now. He went businesses class and was treated like royalty. He has done the trip a few times in the past, but he had assisted care this time round (although he didn't really need it: it was an added luxury and free of charge.) To be greeted with a wheelchair and transported through customs without having to qué up.

He only went for 2 weeks, but had a fabulous time. Went to see a friend who has known for 65 years. Dad 84, and his friend 90.It will be the last time they will ever see each other again.

My dad stayed with John's (his friend) Son and Daughter. Was also given a use of one their cars so could take John out, who is in a home and has short term memory loss. But was like when they first met, and remembered the good old times.

That's a massive trip at that age.  My Dad came here in his 90s and it was not easy.  The help at the airport was interesting and workable but it massively slowed down the entire process.  We had to wait for everyone to get off and we got on first via a special transport thing which lifted us up at the back.   We weren't the only ones. My Dad could easily walk but didn't mind getting pushed around at the airport in chairs and on the electric golf-cart things.

It is quite sad when old folks see each other for the last time.  My Dad had to bid farewell to his Army friend.  They were in WW2 together.  He went back to Australia and died a couple of years later.  One more person that no longer was on the letter writing list.  Interestingly, they used to address each other by their ranks - "Cup of tea, Staff (Sargent)?"   They'd know each other since 14 and Army Cadets in the 1930s.

I bade farewell to my brother before he died. It was incredibly upsetting. I knew I'd never see him again. I could hardly keep it together.

That is so sweet to hear.

When one is around old friends, you go back in time.

My friend ,Lisa took a 5 hour bus ride to Vegas to hang with me for only 24 hours about 8 years ago.

Had not seen her in well over 35 years!

I almost walked past her, she had changed physically but once we said hi it all came back into place like it was just yesterday;

Nice to hear he made the trip, and did not let age or physical limits stop him.

My husband keeps saying he wants to move back to the US. I just do not get it, why when it is so messed up there right now.

Of course he talks a big talk so not packing up just yet!

I know we live cheap here in Hungary.

No way could we or anyone really afford dental care or much in the way of waste in the US right now.

We do not have a real budget but then again, my husband is the banker around here and only likes to pay cash.

When paying cash you usually think it over a few times before parting with your hard earned money.

Good news, my brother many go home in a couple of weeks, it has been nearly a year since his nightmare started;

He is using his new leg with a walker to get stronger; Only can do about an hour per day of walking; It is sore and the new leg is heavy. About 8 lbs which does not sound like allot but try lugging it around all day long.

It gets worse.

Apparently President Musk and his disciples "raided" USAID in bid to shut it down.   Billions of dollars in projects are ongoing there.  They'll all have to stop.  I can see that being challenged.   It was DOGE apparently that went there and there was a show down.  I don't see DOGE is actually a department with legal authority and Musk isn't someone with authority.  Anyone who has been involved with the civil service knows you don't do anything unless it's been authorised by a public official with the correct standing.    What I don't understand about USAID is that the funds there are already approved by Congress so closing it down - and the NIH (Fauci lot) epidemiologists - should not be allowed. And the NIH is apparently being blocked on saying anything. And besides, they've got Avian Flu and Tuberculosis outbreaks ongoing.  Apparently things have broken down in communicating Public Health data to those that need to know.  So it seems like there will be a national health emergency there eventually.

CNN said that polls show not that much public support for the tariffs. OK, it's CNN but then again, they are professional journalists so should have verifiable and legitimate sources etc.

MSNBC reports I would be more careful on quoting.   Fox News doesn't even figure on my radar.

USAID staffers told to stay out of Washington headquarters after Musk said Trump agreed to close it - @SimCityAT

It's a big deal.

What Musk doesn't probably understand is that USAID must buy US goods and use US personnel.   There are other agencies which do the same (like US Trade and Development etc). .  Essentially it re-injects money into the US economy.  It's not all spent abroad.  It's multi-billion dollar sector.  A lot of people are going to be very unhappy.  Quite possibly, thinking out of the box a bit, the US could pull out of the World Bank, IMF and UN.  Then what?

More worryingly, apparently (according to news reports) Musk is now an employee of the US Treasury and will control all payments in and out of the Federal government.  Everyone (should) know  that if you control the money, you control everything.

Trump also rescinded the visas for about 500K Venezuelans (?) in Florida.  All of those would be potential for deportees.  Events are moving faster than anyone can imagine.  There's also the Afghans to think of. I think there's 300K of them.

I could even see some civil unrest if people don't get their cash or benefits.  I wonder if a mob is going to burn down Trump's house!

Just the other day on the bus, a young couple were riding with their infant son. Broke my heart to see them doing their best and knowing the future is a bit on the dark side;

Trump, Biden whoever is put in the place for the puppet masters really does not matter.

They have their agendas and we have little power to stop it unless we all wake up at the same time.

But it is a lovely day and we should all be grateful to be alive, no magter what;

And Farage is having a good old cry today......
The EU has invited Keir Starmer to a leaders summit in the very building where Ted Heath signed away our sovereignty in 1972. This is deliberate and humiliating. Starmer has learned nothing from the Brexit vote and it will come back to bite the Labour Party. - @SimCityAT

Well, you know me, I'm keen on the EU in principle.

UK has always been stupid in so many ways.  They should have built trade with the Commonwealth.  But that's just typical of UK politicians - everything short term.  I suppose the symbolism of where it all started has not been lost on Starmer.  48% voted to stay, 52% to go.  And there was a 3% margin of error.   So he's representing both groups - he's PM for both sides.  Reality is that Brexit is grossly unpopular now - opinion polls have shifted.

As for Farage, he's a nobody really except the  MP for Washington DC or Mar-e-Lago Florida.  No-one will be looking at him while events unfold in the US.

@Marilyn Tassy

Countries will simply not trade with America and will do deals with others. In the end Trump will lose out, and there will be civil unrest. When Americans see their grocery bills increasing, and Gas prices at the pump ⛽ it will not do Rump any good. Inflation will also rise, so will unemployment.

He will be wanting to a deal with Trump.

Yes of course and Trump has his golf courses in the UK.   They can easily be investigated for fraud or some errr...Trumped up charges.

If it hits Donny in his wallet, damages his reputation, then he's going to pay attention.

We should not forget he still owes E. Jean Carroll $100M for various cases etc (civil case) and the $450M for the fraud case.

He might be able to dodge those  for a bit but those are State cases and he cannot stop them moving forward when he's out of office next time.  The chances of him winning on appeal I'd have thought were quite low.

Anyway, it's all still waiting for him to suffer and for us to enjoy.

Good news, my brother many go home in a couple of weeks, it has been nearly a year since his nightmare started;
He is using his new leg with a walker to get stronger; Only can do about an hour per day of walking; It is sore and the new leg is heavy. About 8 lbs which does not sound like allot but try lugging it around all day long. - @Marilyn Tassy

I dunno why anyone would want to go to the USA right now.   What would be the point?

My 2nd eldest now lives and works just outside Toronto, Ontario and is very worried there will be a war between Canada and the USA.  I doubt it'd ever come to that.  I told her to stop reading the news or to do it selectively.

If you are going to have a problem, it might be with SS payments. Musk has his hands on the US Treasury.  It'll be chaos for weeks if not months. .

Pleased to hear your bro is improving.  And his muscles will improve to lug the 8lb/3 or 4kg leg around.

I wish Trump didn't have a leg to stand on.

So no tariffs against Mexico for a month. But Mexico is going to supply 10,000 troops to protect the border.

That wall worked out well didn't it?

Why not simply (and calmly) invite them to a summit to discuss trade?

Why get everyone all riled up?

It's such an amateur way of behaving. But that's perhaps what they were expecting anyway.   Just get on with talks as that's what they wanted anyway!

I expect Mexico is only putting troops there to cover the influx of deportees.

Works both ways. The Cartel gets their guns from America. In reality Trump got played.

It's hardly a massive concession from Mexico.

Is that what you meant?

Why?  Because it makes Trump look all-powerful (or all-caring, depending on what he's up to) to his public which is who he cares about, not you or me, or anybody else for that matter.  He does everything in this way, always has, always will.

I trust the left as much as th right when it comes to the truth. I trust both to lie in order  to fill their pockets.

As for Musk, I'm having trouble  thinking  of a more dangerous man to put near secret information. I commented before about how I won't have starlink for the  same reason.

What most are missing is what Isn't being said about USAID. I did a lot of research on thei activities in Indonesia,  and  there's something Trump is  eaither unaware of, or has totally ignored. I suspect the delay in allowing Musk  in  was so they had tiime to delete critical  natioanal security files.

A chap I work with was trying to get a job  over there. He, quite rightly  in my opinion,  decided to give up on the idea as  his skin is brown.

He feels the US would be an  unsafe place for him.

In  alll  honesty,  it looks a lot  that way.

No matter your political bent, it's bullying. Some people work  like that, but they never have  any friends.

In  this case, China must be looking at how  to court ex-friends of  America to enter trade deals.  China wiill want Canadian oil  before we  start with anyything else.
