Bit early to speculate but maybe climate protesters?
UK ones are going to get jail time for throwing soup over Vincent Van Gogh's sunflowers.

I gather there are more then 75,000 people working the games in security.
Like 20% of the people attending are security forces.
I really hope no one is hurt or killed but this may be just the start of more antics.
What a drag it have booked a room to see the games, perhaps bought a ticket to enter that day and find yourself stuck with no way to get there.
My husband flew from Maui, then hitched rides to Montreal for the 76 games.
He bought a ticket to see a boxing match but basiclaly just hung around the differnt venues and saw the sights.

All the railways are up and running now, and most of the high speed railway are operational now, after 1000's of workers were deployed to fix the damage caused.

That is good. Hate to be a French tax payer right now! The bill for this must be out of this world.
I was really looking forward to the opening ceremony of the Olympics; I got myself all set up for 4 hours in front of the TV, but then I fell asleep in my reclining chair and woke up after it was over, Apparently I didn't miss much.
@Cynic
It was bad, it was all over the place, and I gave up in the end, I couldn't finish it.
My husband called me to look at some of the floor show.
Looked lame and boring, 5 mins max was all I could handle.
No interest in seeing the ,stiff women sing either.

That's what insurance is for, but the French Railway isn't poor and its well maintained.
Apparently the French authorities saw some of the arsonists in a van and managed to discover their devices before they went off. I expect they'll be on their trail almost immediately. Once they've got one lot, the others will be nabbed in short order.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a Russian operation due to Macron's support for Ukraine. If was a Russian job, those perps will be long gone and already drinking vodka martinis in Moscow.
We'll probably see more of this all over Europe. It's a kind of phoney war right now for us this side of the Ukrainian border.
I do love fresh figs, chutney is very nice.
Strange how tomatoes went from 1,200 to less then 300 forints.
Yes, buy now, store because sooner or later the prices will go sky high again.
My MIL also used to store veggies for winter.
I do not have the space to store allot of items.
Too much junk up in our loft already.
We are growing a small tomato plant in our window box but it is just for fun, do not expect a crop to pop up.
I have some fantastic news about my little brother.
He may of had a stroke while in the ICU so his right side is a bit weak but he is improving everyday and has a positive outlook.
He will be getting fit hopefully in 5 days or so for a new leg!!
He is not taking too many oxy pills for pain because he does not want to get hooked on them.
A few weeks ago, his wife wrote telling me he was in so much pain with his PT that he was screaming and crying, sounds like he is coming along much better now.
I am investigating suppliments that may help in his faster recovery. One we just started taking ourselves a day ago. Called Tudca. Suppose to help rebuild nerve endings, help with heart issues, inflamation of the liver and organs, stroke victims etc. Seems too good to be true but worth a try. Also suppose to help with dementia.
Now if we could find more fresh dark green veggie , that would be nice.
My SIL mentioned that my bros recovery was harder because his ex wife and his son gave him that meth in the iCU.
Oh, what were tehy thinking? She filed a police report but since his own son was involved I am not sure how hard they are pressing the issue.
I let my mind go to the dark place and thought about insurance policies.
I asked her if he had one for his son, my bro had a decent job working for the state of Ca. then with the city. They usually throw in some sort of life insurance with the jobs.
She said yes, he has one for his son and knowing how trusting my bro is, he probably told them about it in the past.
Man, how evil can his ex be? My bro does not wish to think his son had it in for him but did not put it past his ex. Well, his 33 year old son was in the room when it was given to my brother so he is not innocent in my eyes.
Sad to see how low people can get when they are druggies.
My husband refuses to think they could be so evil but I watch enough crime shows to know better.
Money, the root of all evil.

The fresh fig chutney is really nice. I had some cheese on toast with tomatoes and I also put some chutney on it. Lovely. We've been given some blackberries as well. Had some of those the other day. The tomatoes continue to be prolific here at Fluffy Towers.
I reckon meth heads need to go to jail, if not for the crime, but to be rehabilitated. They are doing to die if they continue the way they are going. They poisoned your bro. It could be they were trying to help him or they were trying to kill him, in which case, is it attempted murder? Insurance involved as you say. Money does funny things to people's minds.

Yep they stopped a 5th fire. But they knew where to go, what damage to do. It could possibly be knowledge being leaked or even a an inside job.

Fifth columnists working for Russia or sleeper agents possibly.
Be a bit strange if it was climate activists. Germany experienced disruptions.
This time, they'll throw the book at the French disruptors. I reckon 20 years.
Reminds me of the Baader-Meinhof/Red Army Faction gang times.

Fig chutney, sounds so good.
Makes me think of moms mince meat pies, never could get enough of those.
Love the spices in these sorts of dishes.
IDK, my bro was only 16 and his ex was 15 when they started dating in HS.
My mom was a widow at the time, remarried but really on her own with raising her 2 younger children.
She disliked my bros GF and thought their family were a bunch of hillbillies from OK.
The thing was at the time his GF took really good care of her ill mother, did all the housework and acted much more mature then her age. Seems it was all an act.
Yesterday my younger sister told me some details about her family I never knew before, shocking stuff, sick family for sure. Will not share the details but believe me, they really were hillbillies, not even going as far as marrying a second cousin... My poor young bro had no chance against such sick minded people.
He is a very trusting guy, see the good in everyone, nice but a bit naive.
My first thought was he should change his will and let them know about it. Cut contact with even his own son.
His wife said she filed a police report but they acted like it was too hard to prove etc. sort of wanted her to brush it aside.
One of her friends mentioned she was a nurse and it is common for visitors to put stuff in the IV line! Wow, never would of thought that.
My AZ friend sort of makes me a bit mad, she thinks my bro wanted the stuff even if he did not know if he was dead or alive and half way out of it and partly then fully in a induced coma.
Not sure who she ever hung out with but no, it is not normal at all to want extra drugs when they already were giving him pain meds.
At the time he met her we all thought it was odd that mom let him date just one person.
Our mother would not let any of her girls date until they were at least 16 and then only could date the same boy no more then 2 or 3 times. Then it was cut off. She did not want the drama of teenage love in her house.
They at least waited to have their son until they were 21 and 22, give them that much credit.
In any case , he should defo change his life insurance policy, his son does not deserve a dime.
I should clarify why I am a bit upset with my AZ friend for saying my brother probably asked to be given meth in the ICU while fighting for his life.
She, I do forgive her has allot of old hang ups.
Known her since she was 14 or 15, a year almost to the day younger then I. A class below me. She was close friends with our mutual friend who passed a few years back from brain cancer.
Never really took a shine to her in school, she liked to hang more with low riders then us Hippies.
Always the most over the top bubbly girl, just an act to cover up her terrible home life.
Sad ,her mother made her look awful, sewed her clothing. she often snuck clothing to school, dressed in the girl restroom and redressed before going home. She dressed like she was 10 years old and was so hyper bubbly it was tiring for most of us.
Now she is a bit bitter, do not blame her considering she can not walk and her hands are blowing out on her.
IDK, one of her brothers was removed from their home yet the rest stayed in abuse.
The reason I think she believes my bro wanted to get high while being in a coma was because of her younger brothers experience.
He was 21 and went with his friends to the Colorado river and dove in. He broke his neck and was a quad living in a nursing home after that. He asked a friend of his to give him a hot shot and that was it.
She has allot of resentment and quilt over the past.
I do try to only tell her more positive things yet I know her heart is living in allot of darkness.
Not sure why we two are about the only ones standing, living from our old group of crazy gals but here we are. Maybe we were meant to help each other as we age? No idea but she is pushing me to move closer to her, think she is afraid if her husband passes away that she will be very alone and find herself in a nursing home by herself.
Her idea of life is very different then mine is. No plans on my part to live in the desert out in nowhere hiding away.

That's just nuts.
Why would someone in a coma need meth to help them recover?
The person is in a coma and not going to give consent. In any case, the docs know what to do, not some unqualified fantasist. It's like asking a farm labourer to give their advice on open heart surgery. Like they know anything about it? Even if they've had it themselves! There's no excuse for doing what they did - it's braindead thinking.
I had fantastic dreams the first time I had a minor day procedure in hospital. It was really good. Second time, also minor, not so much but I was told it was ketamine but I've no idea really. But I was really hungry when I came around the second time. Ravenous in fact. They seemed to expect that and were ready to give me something. I thought I'd be sick but I was really OK and I could have gone home almost immediately but they told me to wait around 6-8 hours and watch TV.
I am so looking forward to the day my brother gets out of rehab and goes home. No idea when that will be though. Could be a year or longer from now.
Bad enough to lose his leg but that sepsis did a number on his organs and they believe he may of had a minor stroke just before he fell over and was taken into hospital.
He was such a big strong guy. He would scare me by coming up behind me and picking me up with one arm and swinging me around. Crazy and silly guy.
He had allot of serious drugs going in him in the ICU and for sure meth would not mix with any of them.
On a dialysis machine, chest tubes, intubated with hoses all over and somehow he gets meth in his system?
He could not even move his hands or arms at that time either.
Something defo rotten went on.
Or someone is making up stories.
As long as he walks again, goes home and enjoys the rest of his days, I am happy.
I have only been that upset over another persons health a few times, Do not need it.
Sort of made a huge impact on my thinking seeing how very fragile we all really are.

I'd have thought the far right as they missed being in power during the recent elections.
There's some stuff on Quora about a supposed Russian FSB agent that's been arrested in France.
No idea if this is BS or not.

Sounds like the same bloke. FSB secret agent, chef and reality TV "star". He obviously forgot what "secret" meant. Apparently the French were following him around for some time.
Strange the other bloke Putin had assassinated (Prigozhin) was known as Putin's Chef.
What is it with Russian chefs and Putin trouble?
I'm amazed how dumb the press think people are, then the press prove themselves right.
We're told a drunk with a face half the world seems to know is a covert agent for a major spy ring.
Then we look at the picture the press so proudly shows us as proof as he has two guns in his hand.
Anyone who knows how to handle a firearm will know the 'spy' has no clue how to hold a weapon.
Pathetic rubbish.

Everything is fine with the car now. It was up to passing its test so 2 more years of legal driving. Not that I drive it much as it's a gas guzzler.
I'll let you see some pics later as we're slumming down by Balaton. Making goulash over an open fire!
P.s. asking about the car is appreciated but if you get me started, I'll bore the pants off anyone with the details and specifications and what's been done and blah-blah. I've got a new after market gearbox oil sump made of aluminium. It's really nice. Transformative even. Such is my commitment, I could lie under the car admiring it. I should change the engine oil but haven't driven it enough to warrant changing it. I'm like 5000km short of the need to do it. Shows how much I drive it. Maybe 2 or 3 times a week for perhaps 40m a pop. Keeps the battery charged.

Thank you.
The latest is really amazing considering how we were ready for him to pass away just a short while ago.
He is being fitted for a new leg, might of already had that happen in fact. He has improved enough to sit up and wheel himself around rehab and chat with others in the common areas.
Before long, I pray he gets so strong and bored there that he will go home.
I am sure he will be changing some of his old habits and ways after such a dramatic scare and loss.
He is allot tougher then many people are, something like this would of done me in.

Sounds like he's on the up.
Probably the leg coming off has fixed his infection for good so maybe this is a new lease of life.
He might need adaptations around his place if he uses a wheelchair sometimes but with his prosthetic leg, he should have almost all his mobility back and be able to be back on his bike again.
I looked at cognitive ease, a concept that says the easier it is for your brain, the more likely it is to please you.
The upshot is people commonly have a positive view of really unhealthy foods and, in the case of geopolitics, people believe the crap they read.
Say it often enough and unthinking people will believe it.
Thee moment you separate information into the forms of proven history and propaganda, a different world comes into view.
Russia was clearly nasty when it invaded Ukraine, but right and wrong depends on how much you read.
There was a US CIA backed revolution in Ukraine that removed the internationally monitored and accepted as legitimate pro-Russian government.
Russian speakers in the East of Ukraine were denied the vote, thus the illegal revolutionary government stays in power.
NATO is moving eastward and is a threat to Russia
Ukraine was being pushed to NATO, a move too far as that would leave Moscow open to a pincer attack (Look at a map)
Russian gas and oil was cut off and/or sanctioned just as the US started to fill the gap with its more expensive shale gas and oil. UK citizens don't know much of the world pays a lot less for fuel than they do, but the UK press says prices are a result of the war in Ukraine.
True, but by choice. They miss off the bit about it not having to cost more.
I strongly believe Russia was wrong to invade, but I know why they did it, and that's open aggression from the United States.
We have two lots of criminals to blame, but only if you are capable of thinking past the propaganda that puts all the blame on Russia by ignoring facts.
As for the anti-Chinese rubbish, they are being got at for being better capitalists than the supposed capitalist nations.
Of course their claims to the South Chana sea are wildly over the top, but the nation moaning about the Chinese militarising Islands is building its military regional power on the invaded and militarised islands of Guam and Hawaii.
As a note, if you care to check for yourselves, the Chinese military buildup is mostly short range and defensive in nature, and it didn't start until the US started building up forces in China's back yard.
Two wrongs don't make a right ... unless you are really stupid and believe the propaganda.
