Approaching retirement age and thinking of relocating to Narbonne

My name is Christine. I am actually German, from Cologne, and have been living the past 20 years in California.

I used to live in near Avignon, France for a year a longtime ago, have intermediate French, and I am familiar with the culture (And its bureaucracy

I haven't been in France for over 15 years.

I am approaching retirement age and thinking of relocation to Europe, possibly to Languedoc Rouissilon, Narbonne area.

End of June I will be spending a week in Narbonne.

Does anybody have any tips what would be important to check out from a NON-touristique perspective?

Are there any expat meetings/groups of either American, British, or German expats?
