S1 form husband details have been sent to us .

I've got my S1 but husband's just received his details to be hopefully be added to mine then we can register with a GP. So what do we need to take with us to get him added to my form ?  I'm a pensioner he isn't but he does have major heart problems.

You need to visit your local national insurance office first, they issue a Bulgarian reciprocal agreement.

Take that to your doctor who will enter it onto the electronic system.

Take your passport as proof of identity.

Don't forget your Residence Permit: you'll have a heck of a time with the computer system forgetting about you if you don't get properly registered with your Lichen Nomer.

Both of you should have your own S1 form, his will obviously be as a dependent but will still be a certificate under his name. Then, you go to the National Health Insurance Fund department to register the certificates and put yourselves in the BG system. After that you can register with GP and enjoy almost free visits and treatments.

Thank you all for your help and keep your fingers crossed for us tomorrow afternoon.

Well we got it all sorted today and have been told to return next week to collect it. Result

Well done Kath!

Thank you Jane

Well we've now registered with a doctor in our village. Fingers crossed we don't need to use her .

Good to know you have access to the health service if you need it. Even better if you never need to use it!

@JimJ

Couldn't agree more!  I had a problem when I updated my residency card, to my current address.  They misspelled my name (you'd think a three letter first name would be easy) and that the caused the hospital computers, in the Military Hospital, to go into meltdown. It took two and half hours to sort the problem!

So new notices in the new GP surgery in the village names two gps on different days which means I assume that we just go to the surgery of the GP we registered with? And UK like the UK we don't get private appointments but queue with everyone else.

You would go to the sugery and see the doctor thats on duty. If youre ill you are ill.

Have you checked to see if they're on Superdoc et al? No need to queue if they are...😎

That apart, the practice is indeed one entity so you can see whoever's there on the day.
