You'll be up against bodgers who've never heard of 'Elf-n-Safety and employers who couldn't care even if they have. It's all about saving money here when it comes to building - even the big construction sites are like warzones in that respect.

I've had idiots in flipflops scrambling up and down scaffolding (it's rather aptly called "skeleton" here 😎) outside my house, with several "last minute saves" and a few hard landings. Luckily, none of them took the full "4-stories down and land on concrete tiles" route but it was close once or twice. A guy who used to do our roof/gutter cleaning fell off a neighbour's roof a couple of years back - the neighbour just drove him home and he was found dead in bed of his injuries the following day.... 😰😡
