Rules regarding driving with heart problems

On his return to the UK my husband's ICD ( internal cardiac defibrillator) kicked in and he ended up in hospital for a couple of nights, now as a result of this he won't be able to drive the car for six months. I'm a non driver but we've managed without the use of a car before so it's not the end of the world. But what I'd like to know is are the rules regarding driving a car the same here in Bulgaria?
