Preparing for the driving license exams in Belgium

Hello All,

I understand this is a frequently discussed topic, I hope I'm not asking questions that have been already answered. I have a valid RP and I'm planning to take the driver's license exams in English. I looked up a few things, but I'm not sure since I can't really find a reliable source for validation. Any official resources on the following would be really helpful:

1. Please suggest book(s) or any source for preparing for the exam. I found this: https://www.mondikaarten.be/driving-lic … ckage-1608 , is this a reliable book? The website seems questionable.

2. I understand that the English test will be verbally translated by a human translator. To me, this seems ineffective since this demands the test takers to be extra attentive. And of course, one cannot re-read the questions to understand it better. How difficult is this procedure?

3. For someone already holding a foreign license, can the wait period of 9 months (before taking the practical test) be waived?

4. With a provisional license + driving lessons (20hrs or the other one), would the driver be then allowed to drive by themselves, alone? Or is it mandatory for the driver to be accompanied by a tutor all the time?

1. https://www.drivinglicence-belgium.be/ sells the book., They have the latest edition, You can order it onilne. Some bookshops (Waterstones in Brussels for example) too, sell hard-copy of the book. With the book there will also be a code that you can use to do practice tests online.

2. Yes. The question appears on the screen, Translator translates the question and the answer choices to English (it is announced in the room) and then the timer starts, to answer the question.

3. Yes.

4. You can drive alone, or with a tutor.

Yes

If you don't mind, do you happen to have any official source for this? Or their website where I can find it? I looked up goca.be and https://mobilit.belgium.be/fr/circulati … re_belges, but nothing.

At the risk of sounding like a nervous wreck, need to ask, how difficult is the theory test?

Theory test is not difficult in my opinion but prepare well before the test and take multiple practice tests online.

You just need to think a bit logical before answering and sometimes there are new questions with new situations (apart from the ones which you will see in practice exams) asked in exam.

There are some questions classified as major ones. If you make mistakes with that it costs you -5 points. So you should pay extra attention to it. And you will never know if the questions is of -5 or -1 during the exam.

It's easy to crack with good preparation ! Good luck !
