Maybe you’re referring to one of the absurd ideas of Vlaams Belang, which they often throw around in their TikToks for populism? If so, it wouldn’t be surprising. According to them, citizenship will soon be completely banned 🤣 They also spread a rumor that the fee would be €1,500 instead of €150.

Well, the proposed changes are indeed strict, but it's important to note that these are merely agreements between parties to form a government. All these provisions still need to be converted into actual laws, during which they will be revised multiple times, and many might even be scrapped entirely.

As for the timeline, it's completely unpredictable. However, based on past experience, the earliest changes could be expected by the end of this year (plus, there will always be a transition period), while most of the reforms might only take effect towards the end of the current government's term.

That said, we don’t know how efficient this government will be. They might turn out to be just as sluggish as the previous ones, or they could start working out laws like a crazy printer.
