Considering moving to Austria (Vienna)

eirini24

Hi everyone!

I'm a 38-year-old from Greece and I'm seriously considering moving to Austria with my family -most likely Vienna  for work.

How essential is speaking fluent German for finding a job? Are there opportunities in English-speaking environments?

Are there any local or expat communities (Greek or otherwise) that help with settling in?

To be honest with you, you need to speak German for any chance to get employment.  If you need to speak to any government official, they will only speak to you in German, even if they can speak English.

But you haven't said what your work skills are?

It should be easy if you speak German; have a look at current jobs at www.ams.at, the country's employment site.
