Your question is not clear. Are you asking about the pros and cons of renting vs, purchasing in Vietnam, or are you asking about investing in a home in Vietnam to use as a rental property?

If you are a foreigner you can buy a Department, Condo, or maximum a house on land inside a private-residencial-complex. You can rent it..... but you should consider how you will receive the rent because you cannot have a bank account in Vietnam without a valid Visa/TRC/PRC

You cannot "buy" or "possess" a house on land in anywhere else, because your name cannot be in the papers even when you are married to a vietnamese citizen (matrimonial assets exist for everything but land. In Vietnam the law regarding "land" is superior)
