Spass to Work Permit

Tikah

Hi, i used to work in SG last year November under Spass and resigned go back to MY on October this year due to some family issue. Now i got another job offer under work permit. Supposed to start Mid November 2023 but they just told me that my work permit got rejected without knowing further reason.

anyone has faced the same issue as mine? Is it probably because different type of pass from Spass to Work Permit that could leads to the rejection?

Without knowing all details of your case, it is not possible to tell the rejection reason.

But your employer can contact MoM and ask for it.

In many similar cases, the employee did not properly terminate the previous employment (by giving sufficient termination notice and paying contractual penalty). It could also be tax debt or any other issue with the authorities. Or you are just not eligible for WP, or the employer not eligible for hiring foreigners, or ... - there are many possible reasons!

For contractual penalty: Check your employment contract or ask your (ex-)employer.

For tax debt: You should have received a tax bill from IRAS. If not, contact them!

Tax related matter you must write to IRAS and give your FIN number for them to check and update. They will reply in 3 to 4 business days or earlier.

In general, your last employer should have done all the tax related formalities with IRAS after release your remaining part of your salary and closed your case.

@popsticle12 Nobody other than you and your ex-employer can know if there is an outstanding conractual penalty. Check the contract, or contact them!

Agreed with Beppi. If there was any contractual penalty thrn how the HR released your final salary without deducting the penalty fees (if there is any).

Ethically, HR personnel should have reached you and discussed with you prior to your last day at office.
