14 Days scenario

Hi,

I came to Malaysia on 1st Jan 2023 and I will be staying here for long. My question is if I go for holiday outside Malaysia for more than 14 days in 2023 will there be any problem with my tax return.

Let's say I go in April for 30 days, and Surely i will complete my 182 days as per TR rule, will I be considered as TR.

Thanks

Hello ajaysahu1109,

Welcome to Expat.com 1f601.svg

I think to be on the safe side, this question should be as to an officer at the immigration office.

Is there a way you can get in touch with them?

All the best,

@ajaysahu1109 it can result in trouble. A colleague had to pay over 10,000 RM in taxes at the  Airport to be allowed out of the country, as they deemed her non-tax resident.

You are allowed out more for business trips (must be provable and NOT back to home country) and after a fewvyears it foes upto 3 months allowed out.
