Older or slightly imperfect USD

hi,
I seem to have acquired a few USD that no one wants to take as they are not 100% perfect,  I actually had to ask what the problem with one was, It had 2 little and i mean little, brown coffee stain marks on it
am I stuck with them or have i just lucked out with the shops involved?
Cant really afford for them not to be accepted, any suggestions greatly appreciated

Go to your bank, they will probably replace them, at least that is my experience.

had same thing happen few times.and the bank gave me bad $20... for $100 bill..finally the lady at guest house took them for rent.but have to watch very close when getting change..and their riel can be almost totally destroyed.

But,  opposite to USD,   Banks can give damaged or torn Riel back to the Central Bank and they are replaced by newer ones.

I found out the problem it was issued in 1977 and NO ONE not even the banks I tried will take any USD printed after 1986/8 so I am stuck with it, a money changer offered $35 for my $50.  It'll keep til I go abroad again.
So it does pay to check the issuing dates on the notes especially the $50 and $100 bills.

Hi Kaye,

I have a suggestion for you.  I.e. go to the casino called NAGA and insert the notes into the slot machine..... then cash it back out!

PS. I'm not a fan of slot machine.  :)

Just don't make a bee line to the slots ma'am.
Yes indeed they are cautious of the USD bill.
Which has been in circulation for decades.

They the Cambodians knows the notes very well.
Hotel staff are known to be trained to refuse these notes.
Especially the denomination Twenty.
Which is the most popular counterfeit.
