Sales taxes when buying from international stores

I am debating over buying a jewlery item I want in Morocco. The item should be the same price all over the world. But I am not clear on what the sales taxes on the item would be.

Also are there any rules about stores having to report the sales of these items and who they are sold too?

The item would be bough from an Italian or French Jewlery Chain in Casablanca.

My worry is I don't want to buy it there then get in trouble at the airport or have customs try to give me some crazy tax bill when leaving the country. I have also has horrible experiences with customes and airport security staff in Morocco in the past and don't want to have to deal with having someone try to extort money off of me or any sort of drama causing me to miss my flight.

Every time I have bought gold jewlery in Morocco it has been from local people with small private shops and the transactions were cash. So no idea if taxes were charged.

I think I could get a better deal buying from local jewlers, but from my experience the design of the item might be nice but the craftsmanship and finish is not as good quality.

Any feedback would be appreciated : )

Taking expensive jewlery out of Morocco might be tricky, especially because there are restrictions on taking money out of Morocco and taking jewlery out could be viewed as a way around this. To be on the safe side I surgest feeding the poor, you will enjoy it so much more than the jewlery too

I might have to walk out of Morocco with 24k grills on my teeth to move this money lol! The purchase is not going to be crazy high... I am not looking to get arrested nor is my husband stupid enough to give me even close to the max amount allowed to be moved. I am not going to buy the item there if it is going to end up being more experience. Also I don't even understand how much money he could even spend using his Moroccan bank card in a day. For example I could not just walk in to a store and spend that much on my on an item using my own bank card in Canada even if there was a lot of money in the account. The system would flag the transaction and not allow it to go through and I would have to call the bank to clear the transaction.

I guess it would probably look really sketchy if I walked in to the store with a pile of cash and refused to give my name if they asked . .... but then I might not really get the best quality authentication documents if I don't.

My husband will not move a lot of money anyways because he wants to buy a retirement property for himself when he retires from being my husband lol

In reality I can't give away money that is not mine .... but I can get my husband to buy me a gift using the money he has in Morocco using the classic "Happy wife .. happy life" concept.

I wanted to contact the stores in Casablanca to ask, but there is no e-mail and I my husband wont call for me .... my daughter does not speak Arabic good enough and they would probably hang up on her and think this kid is just making a prank call and wasting their time. I need to make sure they do have the size and the exact item I want in stock or it could take longer then the time I have in Morocco to get in to the store. The items I am considering getting are items I have been considering buying in Canada... but if I can use my husband's money in Morocco to pay for it rather then money here this would be better.
