Is there a way to avoid/reduce paying income tax in Morocco?

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are planing to move to Morocco, but from what I have read, as a digital nomad working remotely for a US based company, I have to pay income tax in Morocco if I stay over 183 days.

Is there any Legal tax loop hole I can use to avoid or reduce the tax amount.

According to Ai , I will end up paying over $30K tax on a $80K income .

The only way I know is jump from one country to another before 183 day is over.

I would appreciate any guidance and advice

Thank you

Alex

Morocco has a struggling economy. The average Moroccan worker makes between $4500-$6000 per year. Your question comes across as typical Western entitlement

There is no legal tax loophole to completely avoid Moroccan income tax if you become a tax resident by staying over 183 days, but you can legally manage your time or utilize standard mechanisms like the Foreign Tax Credit to avoid double taxation with the U.S.

Thank you,

I read that Morocco will tax my income first ,so I will end up losing big chunk of my income.

I was hoping by moving to a lower cost country and using Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE) I could save some money , but I guess that was a dream, unless as you said to jump from a country to another every 6 month.

Have you thought of Bulgaria?

@SimCityAT

I have not.

Do they have any special treatment for Tax-Residency ?
