Julien

Hi all,

Newbie on the Mauritius forum? Don't know how to start?

This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country,
or to tell us more on your expat projects in Mauritius if you are planning to move there.

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Welcome on board!

My name is Khemisha, and I’m from Mauritius. I recently joined Expat.com to connect with people living in or interested in Mauritius and to exchange experiences, tips, and ideas.

I’m interested in technology, remote work, and digital tools, and I enjoy learning new skills and meeting people from different backgrounds. I’m happy to share local insights about Mauritius and also learn from the experiences of expats living here.

Looking forward to connecting with you all and being part of the community!

Warm regards,

Khemisha

Thanks so much for creating this group. I’m really excited to be part of the community, and I can already tell this is going to be incredibly helpful.

I’m just getting started with my search for a ground floor furnished rental, so if anyone has tips or advice on where to look or what to watch out for, I’d really appreciate it.

Hanks a ton!

Hello and welcome !

Feel free to read the housing section of the Mauritius Guide : https://www.expat.com/en/guide/africa/m … s/#housing

In regards to accommodation, never sign anything before visiting. Make several visits if necessary and at different time of the day.

Do you know where on the island you want to live ?

Regards

Bhavna

Hi everyone

I am coming to Mauritius on 4 May to compete my visa application.

If anyone knows of somewhere to stay for the first week, please advise. Also, of course, I will need a long term rental in the region of Perybere/Grand Baie. Somewhere with access to a pool and close to shops, bars, restaurants etc as I will initially be without a car. My budget is up to 40,000 MUR

Thanks in advance of any leads!

Cheryl

Hello Lynederry,

Welcome to Expat.com 😀

For any housing requests, we invite you to post an advert in the Housing opportunities for expats in Mauritius section, where you can include all the details of the type of property you are looking for.

You can also browse the existing adverts, as you may already find something that suits your needs.

Regarding short-term accommodation for your first week, do you have a preferred area you would like to stay in? For example, since you are considering a long-term rental in the north, you may also want to look at staying in that same region initially.

Cheers,

Cheryl
