I created this new thread on the Mauritius forum from your post so that you get responses from members.

For how long will you be staying here ?

You will find lots of offers on websites such as expat.com's housing classifieds, l'expressproperty, however, make sure that you visit the property before signing anything to avoid any inconvenience.

I would suggest that you rent a bit further inland than near the coastal road, which can get quite noisy. People tend to rent bungalows for weekends parties, so that also could be an issue in some neighbourhoods.

In regards to social networking, you will probably find a lot of expats and tourists having a drink or sharing food at the bars/pubs along the coastal road. I know for sure you will find people at Mafiozzo Bar next to the supermarket though it's been years I haven't been at Flic en Flac but I don't think it has changed much. You might even come across joggers/runners on the beach.
